Bone of my bones is a reflection for Sunday, January 23, 2011.
Bone of my bones
Bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh….
It is in the shelter of each other that the people live.
– Irish Proverb
We do not remember days, we remember moments.
– Cesare Pavese
Everything Norman Rockwell ever needed for his illustrations
is in this simple photo. And who among us
couldn’t fill a shoebox full of these?
This twig at three and growing,
follows what sparkles
and remembers more deeply
way into the bones.
Bone of my bone of course comes from the Old Testament, but I was inspired to use it within a reflection after coming across it in the now classic book of The Family of Man. It’s an amazing photo documentary by Editor Edward Steichen.
