Having worked in ministry with Quaker children since 1977, and as an amateur photographer for most of those same years, I have always been intrigued how children are attracted to color. Add to that all the many ways that light itself dances across their skin, through their hair and over each muscle, bone and crease of skin, then it’s easy to understand how the image presents itself over and over again in my mind’s eye.

The above photos are of a hand-printing tee-shirt project (led by Gretchen Baker-Smith) at a recent retreat.
